Welcome to the University of Mississippi!

This site will serve as your central hub for all logistics information and general communications related to any of our summer immersion programs for middle school and high school students, hosted by the Office of Pre-College Programs and the Division of Outreach and Continuing Education.

Individual program logistics and information will be sent via email at least one week before the program start date. The following information is general for all non-credit summer programs and does not include all program-specific details.

Summer Prep

Summer is just around the corner! Our office is busy making sure your student has an amazing experience this summer. This section contains everything you need to know to prepare for your student’s summer at the University of Mississippi.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not already started or completed STEP 2: Create An Account, please do so as soon as possible. Once you’ve created an account, you’ll be assigned a checklist, then you can login, and upload all necessary documents through the MySchoolApp.

A. Required Paperwork

Each student is required to have the following documents on file BEFORE arrival. Students without complete files will not be able to check-in for the program.

Once our office has received and processed the above paperwork, you will receive a “complete file” notification via email.

Activity-Based Liability Waivers

Some program activities may require additional liability waivers as required by partner departments coordinating these activities. Parents/guardians will be notified of any additional waivers and/or paperwork prior to the program start date.

B. General Schedule

Each program will follow the below general schedule for the week. If a program varies from the general schedule, parents/guardians will be notified prior to the program start date in the summer program logistics email.

C. Classroom Location

Each program may be held at different locations on the Oxford campus. Below is a list class locations by program. Specific classrooms will be listed in the summer program logistics email.

D. Parking on Campus

High School students of driving age may commute each day to campus to attend the program. Students driving to campus will be required to park in approved visitor parking lots and display a visitors parking pass in the vehicle. Parking permits for the week are available at an additional cost.

Prior notice of students driving to campus each day and parent/guardian approval is required.

E. Airport Shuttle Information

Out-of-state students flying into Memphis International Airport (MEM) that require a shuttle from Memphis, Tennessee, to Oxford, Mississippi, may request one using the Shuttle Request Form. Summer program shuttles are provided by the UM Outreach Operations Office at an additional cost.

Due to our Minors Supervision policy, summer program shuttles are for minors only as we may be transporting multiple minors for the same week of programs. If a parent, guardian, or an approved adult is traveling with the student, they will need to make other shuttle arrangements by emailing shuttle@olemiss.edu or contacting a commercial service outside the university.

Residential Information

A. Move-In Day Logistics

The move-in date is typically the Sunday before the program start date. Dates listed at the top of this page include the Sunday move-in date.

What To Do When You Arrive

Arrival on CampusResidential College-South, 100 Faculty Row, Oxford, MS 38655

2:00 – 3:30 PM Check-In – Upon arrival at the LuckyDay lobby, students will receive:

    • room card and room assignment
    • name badge
    • meal card
    • t-shirt
    • summer swag bag

Move-In – Move into your assigned residence hall and room right after check-in. Carts will be available, but limited.

4:00 PM Welcome and Orientation Session – Meet the program director and coordinator, learn about residential program expectations, and have a chance to ask questions in person. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.

5:30 PM Welcome Dinner – Following the Welcome Session and parent farewells, students will be led by counselors to the Residential College South Dining Hall for a catered dinner.

B. Housing

Students will be housed in the Residential College-South. RC-South is a contemporary residence hall located on the northeastern side of campus. Students will receive their room assignment at move-in and will be roomed with another student participating in the same program.

Roommate Requests. Roommate requests will be honored as long as they are placed in advance of the program start date. Each parties’ parent/guardian must request the other student by sending a brief email request to precollege@olemiss.edu.

Each residence halls include furnished double suites with two beds, two dressers, two desks, and two chairs. There are bathrooms shared with other residents on each floor. Some floors are equipped with a TV room, a kitchen with a sink, and vending machines.

C. Meal Plan

Students will receive a meal card with their name badge on move-in day. Each residential student will get three (3) meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) at the Rebel Market plus snacks.

E. After-Camp Activities

Residential students will participate in afternoon and evening activities with their summer counselors.

F. Move-Out Day Logistics

Residential students will move out on Friday between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. CDT. Students will start packing their belongings on Thursday evening in preparation. When ready to move-out, students and their families will remove all personal belongings from the room and a summer staff member will do a quick room check to verify everything has been move-out and the general cleanliness of the room.

All rooms and living spaces are expected to be left in a clean condition with no damage to furniture, space, or other university property within the room and building.

Commuter Information

A. Orientation Session

Students are required to attend an Orientation session with the program director and coordinator, learn about residential program expectations, and have a chance to ask questions in person. Students will receive a swag pack at this session. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. Students may stay for the Welcome Dinner following the session but are not required.

C. Check-In Logistics

Students will check-in each morning with their instructor or a summer team member at their class location on the Oxford campus of the University of Mississippi.

On the first day of the program, the student will receive:

    • name badge
    • meal card
    • t-shirt
    • summer swag bag

High school students driving to campus each day will need to park in an approved parking lot and have a visitors parking pass.

D. Meal Plan

Students will receive a meal card with their name badge on the first day of the program. Each commuter student will get one (1) meal per day (lunch) at the Rebel Market plus snacks.

E. Check-Out Logistics

Students will check-out each afternoon at the end of the program. A parent, guardian, or approved custodian will need to check out the student each day. If a high school student is driving to campus each day, they may check-out by themselves to go home.
